Getting pulled by the fuzz for looking like a pikey might not seem like the ideal start to a drift weekend, but the fact they couldn’t find anything wrong with me or my car and let me go on my merry way had to be a good sign! Apart from that, the journey down to South Wales passed pretty uneventfully and I was soon shacked up at chez Drew after a busy afternoon laying out the drift track and generally prepping the airfield for tomorrow’s drift onslaught! A boozy evening of assorted car stories slowly melted away into the early hours, and left us all with slightly sore heads as we rocked on over to the airfield at silly o’clock the next morning.

This site is designed to give you an insight into the world of drifting, and show you why and how you can do it on a much smaller budget than you may think. Updates will be as regular as possible with more information or specific in depth solutions to problems encountered with our cars (or send us your articles about fixing a problem you had, pictures if possible) as well as events that we may have gone to. Tramp drifting is all about getting the maximum drifting thrill and potential from spending the least money, many people want to get into drifting after being a fan of Japanese cars since the sport originated from Japan, however they do not think of all the great cars available cheaply here in Britain.
A common misconception is that to drift you need mega power and a good handbrake, however all you really need is maybe 90bhp/tonne and if you run something like 185 section tyres on the back you can drift in the dry, in the wet this drops to roughly 70bhp/tonne. More power is usually better but it is not needed to have fun. Various cars are provided as examples on this site, so please browse and maybe you can get some fresh ideas.
